If we haven’t lost you yet…..here’s more on Daniel’s career.
In 2010, Daniel launched the website This Boundless World under the umbrella company STATE39. During its 10 year run, it produced travel content catering to the international backpacker community. The site featured the work of over 50 writers and for a time was considered an authority on backpacker travel abroad. The site stopped publishing regular content in early 2020 due to the travel restrictions imposed during the Covid pandemic. The site remains live but is no longer updated.
In 2015, Daniel published his first (and likely last) full length novel, titled The Watermelon King under the imprint, STATE39. The book can be purchased on Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble; as well as can be found in various libraries around the country. The book has a 4 star rating on Amazon and Goodreads. The Watermelon King is based on the true events and has sold over 15,000 copies across print and digital.
In 2020, Daniel expanded the STATE39 company by launching an online apparel brand. The brand produced t-shirts, hoodies and hats that incorporated themes of travel, music and art. In 2024, the shop closed its virtual doors due to competing priorities.
In addition the projects above, Daniel works as a Business Systems Analyst, Consultant and Project Manager. The vast majority of his professional experience has been in the Healthcare industry focusing on EMR implementations (Epic Cadence) and optimization. Daniel has worked for Deloitte Consulting, Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Children’s Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, John Muir Hospital and Providence Health.
Finally, Daniel has spent time working in the entertainment industry. First in radio (a form of media that existed long ago) as a producer, news reporter, assistant music director and guest host. And more recently in T.V. and film as a background extra…a job that literally anyone can do.
Whew, that was a tough read. If you made it through without falling asleep, you’ve probably had too much coffee today.
