What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention Africa? Usually, people would say safaris. And that’s right, Africa is a great place to tour around in and enjoy the many sights and sounds all over the place.  Now, there’s a place in the west coast of Central Africa that has many interesting places to visit and experience a lot of what Africa has to offer. That place is Gabon.

Gabon is one of the richest countries in sub Saharan Africa because there are lots of investors with stakes in this place and coupled with the low population density and vast amount of natural petroleum, it was inevitable for this place to prosper.

But aside from that, Gabon has so many interesting places to visit that a short list of destinations would not do it justice. So here’s a list of the top places that you must visit whenever you find yourself in Gabon.

Bateke Plateau National Park:

UNESCO has this place pegged as a World Heritage awardee candidate because of its sheer beauty and its natural and cultural beauty. This national park has a vast variety of flora and fauna as well as rich deposits of natural resources that has made it famous worldwide.

Point Denis:

Africa is known for its great beaches and shoreline. But if you’re in Gabon, then yo must definitely visit Point Denis. This fantastic place is a great place to hang out in for a day at the beach. And if you ever need to be a little bit more aware of conservation, Point Denis is also a major breeding ground for leatherback turtles. So at night, with proper authorization of course, you can check out these large aquatic reptiles and appreciate nature at its most magnificent at work.

Lope National Park:

One of the most well known tourist spots would most definitely be the Lope National Park. With tourist friendly places like chalets and open air dining areas available, this is the best place to just sit back and relax and just wine and dine the night away. And if that’s not enough to make you want to visit the place, just imagine this: While you enjoy your drinks and your meal, the rain forest is so near you could touch it!

Loango National Park:

Do you want to see magnificent animals in their most natural state? Then the Loango National Park should be perfect for you! Elephants, hippos, herds of hoofed animals and thousands of other species of wild cats, birds, reptiles and primates abound in this place. You should be able to most of the animals mentioned above just by driving through this area in one of the guided tours provided in this place.

There are a lot of other places to visit in Gabon like the Akanda National Park, the Pongara National Park and several other national parks. This extremely rich area is a total blast to visit and you should have a really fun time here!
